Born in Bibai City, Hokkaido, Japan in 1945, Kan Yasuda moved to Italy in 1970 on a fellowship from the Italian government after graduating from the Master’s Programme in Sculpture at Tokyo University of Arts. He enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, where he studied under Pericle Fazzini. Kan Yasuda then established a studio and has been producing sculptures in Pietrasanta in northern Italy, which is renowned for the quality of its marble. Many of his monumental sculptures both in marble and bronze can be seen at various locations in Europe as well as in Japan.
