Olivier Gabet

Olivier Gabet, has been Directeur du Département des Objets d’Art at the Musée du Louvre since September 2022. He studied at the École nationale des Chartes and the École nationale du Patrimoine in Paris. He became Curator of Applied Arts at Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris in 2002 and moved to the Musée d’Orsay in 2005, where he was responsible for the Collection 1850-1900.

From 2008 to 2013, he was the Curator of Decorative Arts for the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

In 2013, he was appointed as the Director of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, where he oversaw numerous exhibitions including Bauhaus (2016); the retrospective exhibition Christian Dior, Designer of Dreams (2017); Maharajah d’Indore (2019); Cartier et les Arts de l’Islam (2021-2022), and Louvre-Couture (2025).
