Since 2017, Making In has offered leading international figures in craft, design, art and architecture a platform to share their stories around making.

Following on these conversations, Making In brings this rich dialogue to a global audience with the premiere screening of the Making In documentary film by Pat Collins.

The event was held at the acclaimed Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris. The evening commenced with a conversation between past contributors of Making In, followed by the documentary film screening and a Q&A with Director Pat Collins before concluding with a performance on the fiddle by Martin Hayes.

"The Making In documentary film celebrates and explores making as a way of living and thinking, expressing and imagining and unfolds through conversations with Irish furniture maker and designer Joseph Walsh, Japanese sculptor Kan Yasuda, Irish musician Martin Hayes, the Marinelli family of Italian bell-makers, French architect and design historian Cloé Pitiot, American conductor Teddy Abrams, Finnish architect Kimmo Lintula and Irish chef Rory O’Connell.

The film also follows the collaboration between Joseph Walsh and the leading architects Sheila O’Donnell and John Tuomey and a dedicated team of stonemasons who over the course of a year combined to build an innovative stone pavilion on the grounds of the studio, stretching the limits of traditional construction, merging contemporary design and traditional materials."
