This special performance brought together renowned Irish musicians Martin Hayes, Cormac McCarthy and Brian Donellan. Together, they performed a number of unique pieces drawing on the heritage of Irish music, infused with contemporary influences and innovative arrangements, at the recently completed Hedge Theatre in Fartha, County Cork.

Martin Hayes’s soulful interpretations of traditional Irish music are recognised the world over for their exquisite musicality and irresistible rhythm. Cork pianist Cormac McCarthy has a background in jazz and in classical music but grew up in a family of Irish traditional musicians. Brian Donnellan is a concertina and bouzouki player from Co. Clare. He’s the grandson of Francie Donnellan who founded the Tulla Céilí Band with Martin Hayes' father in 1946.

The Hedge Theatre is a crucial link in the chain of three rambling houses at Fartha, a centre-piece in the trilogy of architectural experiments by O'Donnell + Tuomey in collaboration with Joseph Walsh; a theatrical space grown out of the thickness of the hedgerow.
